Queensland offers one of the most generous FHOGs in Australia at $30,000, which was doubled from $15,000 in November 2023 and extended to 30 June 2025. This applies to new homes valued up to $750,000. The increased grant is designed to help first home buyers enter the property market amid rising prices.
Does the QLD first home concession apply to vacant land?
Yes, the first home concession in Queensland can apply to vacant land purchases up to $400,000 (with concessions up to $500,000) if you intend to build your first home on it. You must commence construction within 2 years of settlement.
Can I claim the QLD FHOG if I'm building a new home?
Yes, the $30,000 FHOG applies to newly built homes, homes bought off the plan, and owner-builder homes, as long as the total value does not exceed $750,000. You must move in within 1 year of completion and live there for at least 6 months.
