When to use a quote

Use a quote before the work starts, when the client needs pricing, scope, and a validity window before they approve the job. Once accepted, the next document is usually an invoice or proforma invoice, not another quote.

Notes: the right place for payment terms, deposit requirements, or conditions such as "price subject to site inspection" that sit outside the line-item table.
