FAQ
How is this different from the EOFY Tax Prep Checklist?
The checklist is a static list of every possible item — documents, deductions, traps. The Action Plan asks 7 questions about your situation and ranks only the levers that actually apply to you, with a dollar-saving estimate for each. Use the Action Plan first to decide what to do; use the checklist next to gather what you need.
What is the "Up to $X" headline?
It is the sum of dollar savings across the levers we have surfaced for you. Most users will action 1–3 of these levers, not all of them, so treat the headline as an upper bound. Each card breaks out the per-lever saving so you can pick the ones that apply.
Why does the Concessional Carry-Forward lever sometimes show and sometimes not?
Carry-forward unlocks unused cap from the past 5 years if your total super balance was below $500,000 at 30 June last year. We surface this lever when your YTD contributions look low (under 50% of the annual cap), since that is the population most likely to have prior-year unused cap. Use the linked calculator to confirm your real balance and prior-year amounts.
How do the Division 293 / Division 296 warnings work?
Division 293 adds an extra 15% tax on concessional contributions when your taxable income plus concessional contributions exceed $250,000. Division 296 (passed March 2026, dual-tier $3M / $10M) adds 15% to 25% to earnings on the portion of your Total Super Balance over $3 million. We surface these as warnings, not actions — confirm your real numbers in the linked calculators.
How does Budget 2026-27 affect my EOFY tax planning?
Confirmed Budget 2026-27 measures take effect from 1 July 2026 ($1,000 instant tax deduction) and 1 July 2027 ($250 Working Australians Tax Offset, CGT discount reform, negative gearing ring-fence). For a personalised dollar estimate across all measures, see our Budget 2026-27 net impact calculator. This EOFY action plan focuses on actions you can take before 30 June 2026.
